About California Correctional Center
California Correctional Center was originally built in 1963 and is a dorm-style prison. It houses men.
The prison is in the state’s northwest corner, a few miles east of Susanville, just off Center Road – County Road 27. It is about an hour and a half north and west of Reno, NV.
CCC was originally built in 1963 and encompasses Level I, minimum security, and Level II facilities, similar to Level I, but it has perimeter fences. In 1983, a Minimum Support Facility was added. In 1988, a Level III facility, which is another step up in security, was added.
The physical address is:
711-045 Center Rd.
Susanville, CA 96127-0790
This state prison is expected to close in 2022. Inmates still serving time will be transferred to another prison. The state will not release inmates early because of the prison closing. When the closing announcement was made in spring 2021, the facility had slightly more than 2,000 inmates.
Sending Pictures to California Correctional Center
If you want to send pictures and photos to your loved one at CCC, then you have to follow the rules. Here is a shortlist of some of the rules:
- Pictures must be addressed to the inmate by name and by inmate number. You can find the person’s number here.
- The prison staff opens and inspects all mail. If you do not want strangers to see your pictures, do not send them to the prison.
- Pictures with nudity or showing sexual acts are not permitted.
- The prison administration has the right to decide if a picture is approved or not. Anything that can be a threat to the inmates, the staff or the security of CCC is not allowed.
- Mail must be sent to the Post Office in Susanville and addressed as follows:
Inmate Name & Number
California Correctional Center
P.O. Box 790
Susanville, CA 96127-0790
When you use the Inmate Photos service to send pictures, you get the full list of rules for the prison you select. We update our rules lists frequently to make sure you have the most current information possible.
When you use the service, you review the rules. You decide if the pictures will be approved by the prison staff. If you think the pictures will pass through the inspection, send them to us.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation does not allow inmates to have direct access to email. Rather, the state uses a private company to handle email. Sending a plain email costs about the same as a stamp. Sending a picture costs about the same as two stamps, and only one picture is allowed per email.
Emails are opened and reviewed by the prison staff before the inmate ever sees them. If the email has something that violates prison rules, the recipient never gets the email.
Pictures are printed in plain paper in black and white ink. These are delivered during mail call.
An Easy Way to Send Photos
Looking for a hassle-free way to send pictures to someone at California Correctional Center? Do you want to send pictures with no hidden fees or subscription costs? Worried about apps that track everything you are doing even when the app is closed? Inmate Photos is here to help.
This is how our program works:
- Visit our website.
- Get our free app.
- Find the prison where you want to send pictures.
- We display the rules, which you read to make sure your pictures will be approved.
- Pick the images you want to send. You can even visit social media sites to grab pictures.
- Send the pictures to us.
- Send the inmate name and number, which we print on the back of every picture. This is usually a prison rule. It makes sense anyway.
- Complete your transaction.
Now, we take over. We print your pictures in brilliant colors on photo-quality paper. We try to print your photos actual size. If the image is bigger than our paper, we make it smaller.
If the prison limits how many pictures an inmate may receive each day, we handle that too. We separate your pictures into as many envelopes as needed to meet the daily limit. We mail the envelopes days apart, so they do not arrive all at once.
