About California City Correctional Facility
California City Correctional Facility is owned by CoreCivic, the company formerly known as Corrections Corporation of America in 1998. It started out housing federal inmates and people for the Immigration Service.
The State of California started leasing it in 2013 to meet a court order to reduce prison overcrowding. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) pays almost $30 million a year in rent. This is the only state prison in California not owned by the state.
The prison is a low-medium security facility for men. It is about two hours north of Los Angeles.
The physical address is:
22844 Virginia Blvd.

The CDCR has rules for sending pictures to the men at the prison. Some of these are:

Emailing Inmates at California City Correctional Facility
You can send emails to men at CAC. All email is first routed through a private company that charges for emails. Sending a picture costs $1.10, or the equivalent of two first-class postage stamps. Send two pictures, and you pay $2.20. It can add up quickly. You can only attach one picture per message. A 5,000-word message, one page, costs about the same as a postage stamp. Each page is another charge.
Just like regular mail, all incoming email is opened and inspected. The prison staff views your pictures. If your picture is approved, the staff prints it on plain paper in black and white. The printed image is delivered.
