Madison County Detention Facility in Huntsville, Alabama

If you want to send pictures to an inmate at the Madison County Detention Facility, make sure you pick the correct one. Inmate Photos can help you send pictures to any of the Madison County facilities, and this blog tells you about the Huntsville, AL, county jail.

Madison County Detention Facility

The Madison County Detention Facility on Wheeler Avenue is the county jail. The county has an annex jail and the Fiber Street jail, both at other locations.

The jail houses inmates arrested by the Sheriff’s Office, Huntsville Police Department, and Alabama State Troopers who make arrests in Huntsville and Madison County. It also temporarily houses federal prisons and sometimes inmates from other jurisdictions.

The three-campus complex has a capacity of 921 inmates. It usually stays below that number. Huntsville is adding space to the jail to bring the total to 1,200 inmates.

As this is the county jail, it has space for men and women and a processing center for inmates brought to the jail. Inmates here are serving court-order sentences or are awaiting trial and possible sentencing.

Madison County is better known for its county seat, Huntsville, with NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. Huntsville is in north Alabama, just a few miles from the Tennessee border. It is just east of Interstate 65.
